It will help you to visually understand and map out your ideas in an organized fashion that may be visionary and non-linear. Check out the steps below to create a mind map. You will need a blank piece of paper.

1. On a blank paper, draw a picture or describe your main topic in the center of the paper.
2. From this center image or description, you will have arrows coming out from it.
3. Use as many arrows as you like; remember that Mind Maps are not linear.
4. These arrows are used to show associations or connections between two concepts.
5. Use color coding for each branch or arrow that stems from your main topic to give it a unique personality.
6. For each arrow that stems from the main topic, try to have a keyword or phrase that describes this branch or idea chain.
7. Select either a career path to explore or a university major.
